It's here, the reveal day for the Bead Soup Blog Party. Once again, I have finished my one piece right under the wire. Thursday night to be exact. Actually it was mostly done last Saturday and I am not completely sure that it's done yet:) I keep going back and forth on whether or not I need to add some dangles on the bottom of the focal. Just like the last BSBP, my partner sent me an awesome focal and I've added minimal extras because the focal is so special. I need to have another reveal day of my own and make something with all of the coordinating beads that my current partner and my prior partner sent me.
The creative journey this time was quite interesting. When I pulled out the wire that Diane had kindly put through the focal bead to mark where the hole was, I couldn't find that hole again! I thought I had broken my focal!! Luckily I was able to find it once more but I ended up using the original wire to attach it to my design. So, this necklace is much different from the one I had originally seen in my head. I felt that the turquoise/copper fire polished Czech beads I had went perfectly with the lace agate stone that Diane beaded the bezel around, so they became part of the design.
Take a look at the pictures, visit my partner Diana's blog and see what she created with the soup I sent her. I can't wait to see what she's done. Then take a look at the rest of the participants in the list below. There are some fantastic bead soups out there and sure to be some great pieces of jewelry on display.

beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteI usually agonise over a design as well - whether to re-work it or not etc - but I got lucky this BSBP. All that over-thinking went away somehow. I thought you did a good job with your bead soup. Those Czech beads go very well with the focal. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThat’ a fantastic piece !Congrats!
ReplyDeleteA stunning piece! I'm always amazed at those who have the patience to work with seed beads.
ReplyDeleteI agree - when you have a special pendant, it's easy to overdo the necklace. You did a marvelous job!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll join me again this summer!
I always stress myself out over a design too! Your necklace is perfect...shows off the focal perfectly with a little "extra" to pull it all together!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your necklace and it looks fantastic with a sweater!

ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful that you did the embroidery around the focal. It's goes so well with the chain and doesn't look heavy - in fact, it looks just right! Great job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. The bezel around the focal was done by my partner, I was just the lucky recipient rather than the talent behind it:)

ReplyDeleteOops, I accidently posted my comment at the wrong post. I was saying that your necklace is beautiful. I love the beaded chain. It is perfect and lets the focal be the star without overpowering it. I bet it was really scarey thinking you had lost the holes on the focal. So glad you found them. Great job.
ReplyDeleteOooooo, love the colors! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the focal. I love the beaded cabochon designs, but it is certainly not a talent I have :)
ReplyDeleteAnn, I have to say that your bead soup mix was one of my favorites in the blog party! I have great thoughts for the other beaded beads as earrings and some other things as well but again ran out of time. Happens to me a lot:) And it's actually a coworker wearing the necklace. I had to take the pictures at work because it seems that if it's daylight I'm there. She seemed to have the perfect sweater on that day so I asked her to model.
DeleteWhen I saw your necklace I thought: "Just right"! Not too much, not too little. Nice balance, nice colors - in a word: terrific!
